Snowdrops Inspire Poets to Rode!
Thank you so much to Sylvia Lowe, from Chester, who has sent in this lovely poem: Please keep them coming - we love receiving them and so glad the Snowdrops inspire you all to put pen to paper!
Snowdrops
How do you paint a snowdrop and not
Cry with awe and wonder
At the beauty of the flower?
A creation so minute and unique-
A symphony is playing as I speak
Of the designer of such beauty.
Silent in the depths of the frozen earth she lies
Still winter, yet her graceful leaves and buds
Peak through-a new renaissance!
And with the light and warmth of day
Splays her dainty petals and minute vessels
Containing her seed.
Fringed in green, these delicate trumpets of glory
Intricately painted, as if by Michelangelo,
Mark the passage of winter and herald the Spring-
Botanical angels, they bow their pretty heads and sing!
In profusion. They carpet the barren earth
A regal welcome-a portent of things to come.
Who can paint a snowdrop and not cry and sing
At the beauty of Creation.
